BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT & MARKETING MANAGER

Position Overview

Ziweto Enterprises Limited, a fast-growing agribusiness operating in the livestock sector, is seeking an energetic and innovative Business Development & Marketing Manager to join its leadership team in Lilongwe. The successful candidate will be responsible for driving business growth through new market development, strategic partnerships, and innovative marketing. The role will combine sales leadership with brand building and market expansion, ensuring Ziweto grows its footprint across Malawi and the region. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, this position will play a pivotal role in driving revenue growth, expanding into new markets, enhancing brand visibility, and building strong farmer and distributor networks.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Market Expansion

  • Identify, assess, and pursue new business opportunities locally and regionally.
  • Lead expansion of Ziweto’s Agrovet shop network and alternative distribution channels.
  • Build strategic partnerships with suppliers, distributors, NGOs, and institutional buyers.
  • Conduct market research and competitor analysis to inform strategic decisions.
  • Develop business cases for new products, services, and export markets.

Sales Growth & Customer Engagement

  • Drive sales of veterinary products, livestock feed, hatchery products, and related livestock solutions.
  • Strengthen Ziweto’s Agrovet shop performance and develop loyalty programs.
  • Develop customer acquisition and retention strategies.
  • Monitor sales performance and implement corrective actions where necessary.

Brand Development & Marketing

  • Position Ziweto as the brand of choice for farmers and livestock value chain players.
  • Deliver integrated marketing campaigns, promotions, and field activations.
  • Manage packaging, pricing, and promotional strategies to ensure competitiveness.
  • Lead corporate sponsorships, exhibitions, and farmer engagement initiatives.

Corporate Communications & Digital Marketing

  • Lead internal and external communications for clarity and credibility.
  • Manage media relations and represent Ziweto in public forums when required.
  • Drive digital marketing initiatives including social media, SEO, and e-commerce.
  • Leverage data analytics and digital platforms to enhance marketing effectiveness.

Stakeholder & Community Engagement

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, farmer groups, distributors, and partners.
  • Coordinate corporate shared value and sustainability initiatives to strengthen Ziweto’s reputation.

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, motivate, and manage the sales and marketing team to deliver on targets.
  • Provide coaching, mentorship, and training to build internal capacity.
  • Foster a performance-driven culture with accountability and results orientation.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Agribusiness, or related field.
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Marketing, Business Development, Agribusiness or related fields will be an advantage.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in business development, marketing, or sales, with at least two (2) years at managerial level.
  • Experience in agribusiness, FMCG, or livestock value chains is highly desirable.
