Your responsibilities

1. Resource Mobilisation & Business Development (50%)

  • Lead and coordinate the development of competitive concept notes and full proposals, ensuring strong technical design, sound budgeting, and alignment with donor and national priorities.
  • Strengthen donor intelligence systems, funding pipeline tracking, and pre-positioning efforts, including participation in relevant sector working groups and national technical platforms.
  • Support farmer organizations, cooperatives, and women/youth groups to develop practical and profitable business plans that can secure financing, strengthen market access, and remain resilient to climate shocks.
  • Contribute to fundraising strategies linked to WHH Malawi’s country strategy and global “Food Systems for Zero Hunger” ambition

2. Technical Leadership in Food Systems and Climate Resilience (40%)

  • Conduct or guide value chain assessments, focusing on nutrition-sensitive, women- and youth-inclusive market opportunities.
  • Identify bottlenecks (input supply, production, processing, storage, transport, market access) and co-develop practical solutions with farmers, cooperatives, private sector and government partners.
  • Provide technical input on anticipatory action and disaster risk management to mitigate climate-related shocks (drought, floods, pests, livestock disease)
  • Ensure programming is gender-transformative, addressing barriers to voice, agency, land use, labour burden, and control over income.
  • Support the mainstreaming of climate risk management across project planning and implementation.
  • Contribute to the development or adaptation of training materials and operational guidelines on food systems and climate resilience.
  • Support documentation of evidence, learning and scalable models, and share lessons across the organisation.

3. Partnerships, Coordination & Representation (10%)

  • Maintain strong coordination with local partners, cooperatives, farmers’ organizations, private sector actors, academia and national/district government structures.
  • Participate in and contribute to relevant clusters/working groups to support systems-level coordination.
  • Facilitate technical learning exchanges, joint planning and technical capacity strengthening with partners and across the organization.
  • Represent WHH in national dialogues, alongside other colleagues, related to food systems, climate resilience, adaptation financing, and inclusive market development.
  • Support responsible visibility, communications and evidence-based advocacy together with the Communications Expert.

Your profile
