Wealthnet Finance PLC is a Deposit-Taking Microfinance Institution registered and regulated by the Reserve Bank of Malawi. The institution is seeking a competent, innovative, and results-driven Accountant to strengthen its Finance Department.
Key Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be responsible for the following duties:
- Manage the day-to-day financial operations of Wealthnet Finance PLC.
- Record, post, and approve all financial transactions, including payment requests, cheques, and electronic transfers.
- Prepare payroll accurately and on time, ensuring all statutory deductions are correctly calculated and PAYE is remitted to the Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) within stipulated timelines.
- Prepare budgets and monitor their implementation, analyzing variances and providing explanations and recommendations.
- Prepare and submit monthly financial performance reports to the Chief Finance Officer and Chief Executive Officer.
- Manage cash flow to ensure adequate liquidity for operational and budgeted activities.
- Work closely with the Chief Finance Officer on budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning.
- Monitor compliance with procurement policies and guidelines.
- Ensure proper operation and integrity of the accounting system.
- Perform monthly bank reconciliations and reconcile financial records.
- Support internal and external auditors by providing required information and documentation.
- Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time.
Skills & Qualifications
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ relevant accounting experience.
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including advanced formulas.
- Excellent numerical accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to prepare and present detailed financial reports.
- High levels of integrity, professionalism, and trustworthiness.
- Results-oriented, hardworking, and able to meet deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
