VACANCY ADVERT – ACCOUNTANT

Unik Construction Engineering is looking for an accountant who will be responsible for managing financial transaction, preparing report, ensuring compliance with regulations and providing insights for strategic decision making for its head office in Lilongwe.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Responsible for the preparation and accounting treatment of various domestic taxes (VAT, PAYE, WHT, Corporate Income Tax, etc.), including tax reporting and audits.
  • Engage in tax planning and implementation strategies to reduce tax burden and mitigate risks; conduct research on available tax incentives to benefit the company.
  • Manage office petty cash effectively and maintain proper records.
  • Proficient in the use of the SAGE accounting system.
  • Gather, analyse, and monitor financial data to support decision-making.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (Balance Sheet, Income Statement, etc.).
  • Forecast costs and revenues to support budgeting and financial planning processes.
  • Organize and support both internal and external audit processes.
  • Prepare company-wide and departmental budgets.
  • Ensure accuracy and consistency in financial record-keeping across the organization.
  • Prepare books of accounts and relevant journal entries to ensure proper and systematic presentation of financial records.
  • Handle monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closings.
  • Reconcile accounts payable and accounts receivable in a timely and accurate manner.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field with work experience in Chinese or multinational companies
  • Over 5 years of Experience working in construction projects
  • Member of ICAM
  • Be of high integrity with ability to follow systems and procedures
  • Excellent communication and data analysis skills
  • Ability to multitask and work under pressure
  • Good computer skills and familiar with accounting software like Quick books and SAGE
  • Strong organisational, analytical skills attention to detail
