IT Infrastructure Technician

Duties

The IT Infrastructure Technician Installs, maintains, and supports Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and endpoints in US Government (USG) facilities, vehicles and official USG residences. Supports communications requirements for VIP visits and events at off-site locations. Maintains inventory and records of IT infrastructure, tools and endpoints.

Qualifications and Evaluations

Requirements:

EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of two years of hands-on experience in the installation, repair, and maintenance of data, voice, radio, or video infrastructure systems.

JOB KNOWLEDGE:  Must possess basic understanding of IT concepts, including mobile devices, computer hardware and software, networking, and operating systems. Must have an understanding of the Mission and U.S. Government organizational structure, physical locations, relevant regulations and security policies, IT systems and applications, service desk processes, emergency call procedures, and ticket routing workflows.

Education Requirements:

At least two years of post-secondary study at a vocational college or university in Information Technology (IT) infrastructure, telecommunications, or network systems.

Evaluations:

LANGUAGE: 

Level 3: Good Speaking, reading, and writing include the ability to translate English is required.

Level 3: Good working knowledge, speaking, reading, and writing Chichewa required.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Strong administrative, record-keeping, communication, and technical skills, with the ability to work independently. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, technical documentation, network diagrams, and diagnostic equipment. Ability to maintain IT infrastructure, manage inventory, troubleshoot equipment, assist end-users, and explain IT systems and network topologies. Ability to stay current with evolving IT infrastructure standards and practices and apply them to daily operations.
