TASKS

Project Communication, Visibility and Events

The Junior Advisor will support the implementation of project communication and visibility activities, with a particular focus on documenting project results, good practices and success stories.

  1. Support the development of communication and visibility materials, including success and impact stories, articles, presentations, social media content and other communication products.
  2. Support the documentation of project activities, achievements, lessons learned and good practices through field visits, interviews, photographs and other appropriate formats.
  3. Support preparation of communication and visibility materials for project events and stakeholder engagements.
  4. Participate in relevant GIZ communication and knowledge-sharing platforms and activities.
  5. Support coordination with relevant GIZ communication colleagues and external partners.

Policy and Fish for Schools Implementation

The Junior Advisor will support the Technical Advisor in the conceptualisation, planning and implementation of policy and Fish for Schools activities, including stakeholder engagement and capacity development.

  1. Support the preparation of activity concepts, ToRs, agendas, programmes and other implementation documents.
  2. Support the organization and implementation of stakeholder task force meetings, producer group meetings, technical consultations and trainings.
  3. Support coordination with government institutions, development partners, producer groups, schools and other relevant stakeholders.
  4. Support the preparation and follow-up of contracts, procurement and other processes required for implementation of activities.
  5. Document meetings, trainings and consultations, including key outcomes, decisions, lessons learned and follow-up actions.
  6. Support the Technical Advisor in tracking implementation progress and following up on agreed activities.

Business development and fish farmer cluster support

The Junior Advisor will support follow-up and documentation of business development activities with fish farmer clusters and producer groups in the northern region.

  1. Support the planning and implementation of business development activities, including trainings, coaching sessions, meetings and other capacity-building activities, including participant and stakeholders coordination, materials and logistics.
  2. Conduct regular follow-up with fish farmer clusters and producer groups and document progress, achievements, challenges and emerging opportunities.
  3. Support the collection and documentation of farmer-level results, good practices and success stories.
  4. Assist in preparing activity reports, presentations and other materials documenting business development activities and results.

Administrative and operational support

The Junior Advisor will provide administrative and operational support to facilitate the timely implementation of project activities.

  1. Support preparation and follow-up of requests, payment requests, procurement processes, travel arrangements and other administrative requirements.
  2. Follow up with relevant GIZ finance, procurement and administrative colleagues on pending processes.
  3. Support the preparation and processing of documentation required for activities and contracts.
  4. Maintain appropriate records of requests, payments, contracts and other activity-related documentation.
  5. Provide other administrative and operational support to the Technical Advisors and Team Leader as required.

Knowledge and Information Management

The Junior Advisor will support systematic documentation, management, back-up and sharing of project information and knowledge.

  1. Maintain structured digital records of project activities, reports, presentations, photographs, communication products and other relevant documentation.
  2. Support timely filing, updating and back-up of project information in relevant GIZ internal data and document management systems.
  3. Support the compilation and organization of information required for project reporting and knowledge products.
  4. Support preparation of reports, presentations, briefs and other knowledge products.
  5. Contribute to capturing and sharing lessons learned, good practices and project results within the project and GIZ network.
  6. Ensure that relevant project documentation is complete, accessible and kept up to date.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES

Education

Bachelor’s degree in communication, Development Studies, Public Policy, Agriculture, Fisheries/Aquaculture or a related field.

Professional Experience

  1. At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in development cooperation, NGO or project settings.
  2. Experience supporting stakeholder engagement, workshops, trainings or other project activities.
  3. Experience in communication, documentation, knowledge management or business development is an advantage.
  4. Experience working with government and/or decentralised structures is an advantage.

Skills

  1. Strong writing, communication and documentation skills.
  2. Good skills in document design and development of communication materials, including proficiency in Microsoft Publisher or similar desktop publishing/design software.
  3. Good organisational and event coordination skills.
  4. Good interpersonal and stakeholder engagement skills.
  5. Proficiency in MS Office and digital data/document management systems.
  6. Ability to organize and manage multiple tasks and follow up on administrative processes.
  7. Proactive team player with the ability to work independently and under minimal supervision.
  8. Willingness and ability to travel to project implementation areas.
