Role Description

The Digital Power Business Manager is a contract, on-site role based in Malawi. The Digital Power Business Development will play a dual role in driving both business growth and technical excellence for Huawei’s Digital Power solutions, covering solar inverters, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and modular data centers. The role combines sales responsibilities engaging clients, partners and distributors with solution design and technical support, ensuring Huawei delivers reliable, efficient and innovative solutions to the Malawi and regional markets.

Key Responsibilities;

1. Sales & Business Development

  • Identify, engage, and develop new opportunities in residential, commercial & industrial (C&l) and utility-scale projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with EPCs, distributors, utilities and key accounts.
  • Develop proposals, pricing strategies and techno-commercial offers in line with Huawei’s policies.
  • Track and manage the sales pipeline, ensuring timely closure of opportunities.

2. Solution Design & Technical Support

  • Provide pre-sales technical support including system sizing, solution design and configuration for inverters, BESS and data centers.
  • Prepare and present technical and commercial proposals to customers and partners.
  • Support installation, commissioning and O&M activities through guidance and training.
  • Conduct product demonstrations and workshops to showcase Huawei’s value proposition.

3. Customer & Partner Enablement

  • Train EPCs, distributors and clients on Huawei Digital Power solutions and tools.
  • Ensure after-sales support and service coordination to maintain customer satisfaction.
  • Act as a trusted advisor by aligning Huawei solutions with client needs, budgets, and timelines.

4. Market & Competitor Intelligence

  • Monitor industry trends, offerings and regulatory developments.
  • Provide feedback to Huawei on market needs, product gaps and opportunities.
  • Contribute to product localization strategies and business expansion plans.

5. Reporting & Coordination

  • Prepare regular reports on sales progress, solution deployments and customer feedback.
  • Collaborate closely with internal teams (logistics, finance, R&D) to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Support strategic events such as conferences, exhibitions and installer summits.

Qualifications & Skill Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Renewable Energy, ICT, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of combined sales and technical experience in power electronics, renewable energy or data centers.
    Proven experience in managing C&l or utility-scale solar/BESS projects is an advantage.

Technical Competence

  • Strong knowledge of inverters (string & utility-scale), lithium-ion battery energy storage, and modular data centers.
  • Familiarity with system design, grid integration, and international standards (IEC, UL, ISO).
  • Ability to conduct load assessments, system sizing, and prepare bankable techno-commercial offers.
  • Have more than 2 years of sales experience in the photovoltaic industry.
  • Possess a deep understanding of the Malawian photovoltaic market;
  • Have experience in liaising with the Ministry of Energy and Mines, mining companies, and photovoltaic EPC companies.

Business Skills

  • Demonstrated ability to close deals and manage client relationships.
  • Excellent communication, presentation and negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational and pipeline management skills.
  • Fluency in English (Mandarin, Portuguese, or French is a plus).
