DIRECTOR OF COMPUTER SERVICES
Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the vacant position of Director of Computer Services for Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), tenable at its Head Office in Zomba.
THE ORGANISATION
MANEB is a Statutory Corporation established under the Malawi National Examinations Act, Chapter 30:04 of the Laws of Malawi with the statutory mandate to administer national examinations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Computer Services is accountable to the Executive Secretary and is responsible for providing overall leadership, guidance, and direction in planning and executing all ICT functions of MANEB.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
The principal accountability and responsibility areas for the Director of Computer Services include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and coordinating activities of the Department.
- Consolidating and monitoring implementation of Departmental Budget
- Compiling and submitting monthly, quarterly and annual Departmental reports
- Establishing work performance standards in ICT.
- Ensuring that ICT has adequate and well developed ICT personnel
- Monitoring use and maintenance of departmental resources
- Advising management on the suitability of software and hardware packages for ICT needs of MANEB
- Assessing data integrity and suitability of data security procedures
- Ensuring that program development and modification are applied according to set ICT standards
- Participating in MANEB policy formulation and monitoring
- Ensuring timely work output at all levels in the Department
- Ensuring that computer operating instructions are updated when need arises (Operations)
- Convening departmental meetings regularly.
- Producing monthly and quarterly reports of the department.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications;
- Must have at least a Master’s Degree in ICT or any relevant qualification obtained from a recognized institution of higher learning
- Must be computer literate
- Must possess planning and analytical skills
- Must have a track record of high integrity
- At least five (5) years experience at senior management level
SPECIAL ATTRIBUTES
The ideal candidate must have the following attributes:
- A mature self-starter
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- A good team builder with ability to manage and motivate subordinates
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to set priorities and make optimal allocation of resources
- Not more than 57 years of age so as to be eligible to serve for a minimum three years before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
APPOINTMENT AND REMUNERATION
The successful candidate shall be offered a negotiable performance-based contract for a period of three (3) years that will be subject to renewal on satisfactory performance and mutual agreement, with an attractive salary, benefits and gratuity package commensurate with seniority of the position and qualification of the successful candidate.
