DIRECTOR OF CORPORATE SERVICES

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the vacant position of Director of Corporate Services for Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), tenable at its Head Office in Zomba.

THE ORGANISATION

MANEB is a Statutory Corporation established under the Malawi National Examinations Act, Chapter 30:04 of the Laws of Malawi with the statutory mandate to administer national examinations.

JOB SUMMARY

The Director of Corporate Services is accountable to the Executive Secretary and is responsible for planning, organizing and coordinating activities of the Corporate Services Department.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The principal accountability and responsibility for the Director of Corporate Services include the following:

  1. Planning, organizing and coordinating activities of the Corporate Services Department
  2. Preparing monthly, quarterly and annual reports for the Corporate Services Department
  3. Strategizing and planning for meetings of the Board and its Committees.
  4. Preparing the budget for the Corporate Services Department
  5. Providing regular leadership to sectional heads to ensure staff motivation and enhanced work delivery.
  6. Providing logistical facilitation and scrutiny of requests from various departments in enforcing procedural propriety and best practice.
  7. Providing secretarial services to Management meetings and Board meetings on behalf of the Executive Director.
  8. Controlling the departmental budget
  9. Providing corporate governance advice to Management regarding legal implications of Management decisions on employees, clients and the public at large.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications;

  1. Must have at least a Master’s Degree in either Human Resources Management, Public Administration, Business Administration or any relevant qualification obtained from a recognized institution of higher learning.
  2. Must be computer literate
  3. Must possess planning and analytical skills
  4. Must have a track record of high integrity
  5. At least five (5) years experience at senior management level

The ideal candidate must have the following attributes:

  1. A mature self-starter
  2. Good analytical and problem-solving skills
  3. A good team builder with ability to manage and motivate subordinates
  4. Ability to work under pressure
  5. Ability to set priorities and make optimal allocation of resources
  6. A thorough knowledge of public sector operations
  7. Not more than 57 years of age so as to be eligible to serve for a minimum three years before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.

APPOINTMENT AND REMUNERATION

The successful candidate shall be offered negotiable performance-based contract for a period of three (3) years that will be subject to renewal on satisfactory performance and mutual agreement, with an attractive salary, benefits and gratuity package commensurate with seniority of the position and qualification of the successful candidate.
