OPCO Limited is one of the leading Construction Company that deals in Building Constructions, Civil Engineering and Plant Hiring in Malawi and invites applications from well qualified and experienced personnel to fill the following vacant positions.
1. Building Foreman
Reports to Site Engineer
The successful candidate will be responsible for supervising construction works at the site.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Proven experience in foremanship and ability to set construction targets.
- Ability to read and interpret architectural, civil or structural engineering and service engineering drawings or details.
- Must be proficient in supervising and maintaining a busy construction site.
- Must have NCIC foremanship Certificate or Grade 1 certificate in bricklaying or carpentry or City & Guilds Technician Diploma in Construction or its equivalent obtained from reputable training institutions.
- Must be trustworthy, willing to work occasional long hours and must showcase good workmanship.
- Minimum Ten (10) years’ experience in a similar job.
- Willing to re-locate
2. Auto-Electrician
Reporting to the Workshop Manager/ Supervisor.
The successful candidate will be responsible maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing electrical systems in light and heavy-duty vehicles and general electrical work.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic electrical tests as needed and ability to diagnose electrical malfunctions within automotive systems.
- Undertake electrical repairs on various vehicles.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Proven experience in vehicle electronics.
- Trade Test or City & Guilds Certificates or equivalent.
- Knowledge of fundamentals of electrical wiring and ability to install electrical systems.
- Complex problem solving and strong analytical skills.
- Minimum Three (5) years’ experience in a similar position.
3. Tipper driver
Main responsibility will include driving assigned vehicles on official duties.
Requirements and Qualifications;
- Proven experience in driving heavy vehicles with clean and valid driver’s
- License preferably of Code CE or C.
- Strong attention to detail and adherence to company safety policies and procedures.
- Complex problem solving and ability to work in a changing environment.
- Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) and ability to read and write English.
- Minimum of Five (5) years’ experience in a job of similar nature.
4. Heavy Plant Mechanic
Reporting to the Workshop Manager/ Supervisor.
The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing mechanical faults in light and heavy-duty vehicles.
Requirements and Qualifications;
- Excellent abilities and good knowledge in maintaining/ servicing construction plant machinery i.e. Folk lift, Excavator, Grader, Dozer, Tractor,
- A hand on experience in dealing with Engines, Suspension and Gear Box
- Ability to diagnose mechanical faults and malfunction within automobile systems
- Complex problem-solving skills and be able to work in a changing environment In possession of Trade Test Certificate or City & Guilds motor vehicle mechanics certificate or its equivalent
- Applicants should have a minimum of five (5) years’ hand on experience in a similar role.
5. Excavator/ JCB / Grader Operator
Requirements and Qualifications;
- Have more than 5 years’ experience as an excavator operator or any related machine
- Proficiency in operating, controlling, and maintaining heavy equipment; ability to read blueprints or maps for grading specifications; and a strong understanding of safety regulations.
- Perform routine inspections and basic maintenance of the grader to ensure it remains in optimal working condition.
- Applicants should be familiar with final finishes of the roads
- Should have a valid driver’s license
- Should be able to diagnose minor machine failures and recommend the same for service and maintenance.
- Ability to work to deadlines and under pressure.
6. Tyre Fitter
Requirements and Qualifications;
- Must have a trade test certificate in General fitting
- Proven experience in checking and adjusting vehicle tyres and wheels
- In-depth understanding of Tyre pressure, wheel alignment as well as balancing and rotation
- Must have adequate experience in similar position
7. Plumbers (Location – Blantyre)
Reports to Site Engineer and Foreman Responsible for any plumbing duties assigned by the site engineer.
Requirements and Qualifications
- Proven experience as a plumber in using a variety of plumbing equipment Experience in using both electrical and manual tools
- Ability to read, understand and interpret architectural and plumbing drawings plans
- Grade one trade test Certificate in plumbing or its equivalent
Minimum of five (5) years’ experience working as a plumber or similar
