PUBLIC SERVICE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM ENROLMENT
Applications are invited from suitably qualified university graduates of Malawian nationality aged 18-30 years for a one-year entry-level training and mentorship program under the Public Service Fellowship Program. jointly implemented by the Government of Malawi and Emerging Public Leaders (EPL) in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.
ABOUT EMERGING PUBLIC LEADERS AND PUBLIC SERVICE FELLOWSHIP PROGRAM
Founded in 2016, EPL is an organization that creates opportunities for young Africans to access meaningful and impactful public service careers through training and leadership development programs, targeted at the youth with the drive and potential to effect positive change in Africa’s governance.
EPL works in partnership with governments and local organizations to identify young university graduates and public service professionals who are committed to practicing and promoting good governance throughout Africa. With support throughout their career journeys, this diverse network of leaders influences and strengthens their country’s institutions for delivering democracy with excellence, care, innovation and integrity.
The Public Service Fellowship Program attracts bright and motivated university graduates and young public service professionals, offering them the tools and support to develop into future leaders within the public sector. Currently, EPL is implementing the Fellowship Program in Liberia, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi and Sierra Leone.
The Government of Malawi and EPL in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation are, therefore, announcing this initiative to enroll, train and support the next generation of ethical and innovative young leaders into the Malawi Public Service. Following the selection of the third cohort, the shortlisted candidates will be trained in a rigorous public service curriculum developed jointly by the Government of Malawi and EPL to impart entry-level public servants with the necessary technical and soft skills to enhance public service delivery.
Successful candidates, shall be attached to Ministries, Departments and Agencies as Public Service Fellows as part of the leadership development and mentorship program.
APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS
Interested young leaders should meet the following minimum application requirements:
- Must be a Malawian national with a National ID and no criminal record;
- Must be a university graduate with a Bachelors’ degree obtained in the last 5 years:
- Must be between 18-30 years old at the time of application;
- Must have basic computer skills;
- Must have strong written and verbal English skills;
- Must demonstrate commitment to public sector work and a track record of community leadership and involvement.
