The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi. Its core business is to procure, transmit and distribute electric power in Malawi as well as manage System Market Operations and Single Buyer in Malawi.

ESCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions currently existing in the Corporation.

Outreach Officer – 2 Positions
Grade: ES7
Location: Lilongwe and Mzuzu
Supervised by : Senior Outreach Officer

Purpose of the Job

To assist in developing and implementing the Corporation’s outreach strategy and as well as to carry out a range of outreach activities.

Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Assist in developing and implementing outreach strategies to increase awareness and understanding of ESCOM’s services and projects
  2. Work hand-in-hand with the Senior Outreach Officer in developing and implementing outreach initiatives, including but not limited to vandalism, safety and wayleave awareness campaigns
  3. Assist in coordinating community events, workshops, and presentations to promote ESCOM’s initiatives
  4. Assist in monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of outreach activities, and make recommendations for improvement
  5. Stay informed about industry trends and best practices in outreach and community engagement
  6. Track and report on outreach metrics such as reach, engagement, and impact to demonstrate the success of outreach efforts.

  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent public speaking skills
  • Experience in media relations and crisis communication
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and social media platforms
  • Knowledge of the energy sector is a plus
  • Ability to multi-task and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications and Marketing
  • 3 years’ experience in public relations or communications
  • Professional Membership with Public Relations Society of Malawi (PRSM)
