Alliance One Tobacco (Malawi) Ltd is seeking applications for the position of:
LEAF CLASSIFIER – SEASONAL
Reporting directly to the Leaf Manager, key responsibilities for the successful candidate will among other things include the following:
Key responsibilities:
- Verify tobacco grades on the auction floors in accordance with company buying policies and product integrity standards.
- Ensure each bale of tobacco is assigned the correct grade based on plant position, quality, colour, and texture.
- Reject tobacco bales that do not meet company quality standards.
- Participate in crop assessments to evaluate expected production and quality.
- Assist in the distribution and estimation of tobacco production per field.
- Prepare and submit crop production estimates and reports to management.
Qualifications, Experience and Personal Attributes
- Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE).
- A Diploma in Tobacco Production, Agriculture, Agribusiness or a related field will be an added advantage.
- At least 5 years’ experience in tobacco buying, leaf sales, or tobacco classification.
- Strong planning and organizational skills.
- Good communication and negotiation skills
- Computer literacy is required.
