Job Title: Human Resources Manager (Grade UHL4)
Reporting to: Director of Corporate Services

Role Overview

The Human Resources Manager will oversee all daily operations of the Human Resources Department in accordance with Umodzi Park and Resorts’ policies and procedures. The role is responsible for both short and long-term planning of HR functions including workforce planning. recruitment, performance management, training, employee relations and retention.

The successful candidate will serve as a strategic business partner to management and ensure that all HR initiatives are aligned with the overall organisational strategy

Key Responsibilities

1. Strategic Leadership and Business Partnering

  • Develop and implement HR strategies aligned to the overall business strategy.
  • Advise management on all people management matters.
  • Bridge management and employee relations by addressing grievances, demands and workplace issues.

2. HR Operations and Administration

  • Manage recruitment, selection, onboarding and workforce planning processes;
  • Ensure compliance with Malawi Labour Laws and company policies;
  • Oversee HR administration including job profiles, contracts, letters, organograms and HR systems;
  • Monitor leave management, overtime control and payroll-related updates;
  • Maintain accurate employee records and HR database.

3. Employee Relations and Compilance

  • Act as HR representative in disciplinary enquiries;
  • Manage grievance handling and conflict resolution;
  • Ensure legislative compliance in all HR activities:
  • Engage with Trade Unions and monitor industrial relations matters.

4. Performance Management and Development

  • Coordinate performance contracts, appraisals and development plans;
  • Identify training needs and oversee implementation of development plans;
  • Implement succession planning and talent management initiatives;
  • Monitor skills development progress against plans.

5. Organisational Effectiveness

  • Drive transformation and culture initiatives
  • Strengthen internal communication structures
  • Promote employee engagement, wellness and motivation programmes
  • Ensure grooming standards and professional conduct across the organisation

Qualifications and Experience;

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management or related field from a recognised institution;
  • Minimum of 5 years progressive HR experience, with at least 3 years at managerial level;
  • In-depth knowledge of Malawi Labour Laws and HR best practices;
  • Certification or training in Industrial Relations, Strategic HR or Performance Management will be an added advantage

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and HRIS/Payroll systems
