Applications are invited from suitably qualified Malawians to fill the vacant position of Director of Finance for Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB), tenable at its Head Office in Zomba.
THE ORGANISATION
MANEB is a Statutory Corporation established under the Malawi National Examinations Act, Chapter 30:04 of the Laws of Malawi with the statutory mandate to administer national examinations.
JOB SUMMARY
The Director of Finance is accountable to the Executive Director and is responsible for overseeing financial management and accounting services in order to ensure prudent utilisation and accounting of financial resources.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
The principal accountability and responsibility for the Director of Finance include the following:
- Providing oversight on financial planning and budgetary control processes.
- Developing and implementing efficient and effective financial control systems for effective and efficient management of financial risks
- Developing effective and efficient management accounting and reporting
- Designing and implementing efficient and effective treasury and cash management systems.
- Developing and executing financial management policies and procedures
- Conducting financial analysis of examinations processes and risks.
- Managing infrastructure investment projects.
- Facilitating external audit processes and ensuring timely implementation of recommendations from auditors
- Developing and executing corporate plans and capital expenditure budgets in liaison with other Heads of Departments.
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
The ideal candidate must have the following qualifications;
- A Masters and Bachelor’s Degree in either Accounting, Finance or Business Administration or Professional Certificate recognized by local and international professional bodies such as ACCA, CIMA and CPA.
- A minimum of eight (8) years post-professional qualification experience, with five (5) years at a senior executive or middle management position in an academic related field.
- An active member of ICAM.

The ideal candidate must have the following attributes:
- A mature self-starter
- Good analytical and problem-solving skills
- A good team builder with ability to manage and motivate subordinates
- Ability to work under pressure
- Ability to set priorities and make optimal allocation of resources
- A thorough knowledge of public sector operations.
- Not more than 57 years of age so as to be eligible to serve for a minimum three years before reaching the mandatory retirement age of 60.
APPOINTMENT AND REMUNERATION
The successful candidate shall be offered a negotiable performance-based contract for a period of three (3) years that will be subject to renewal on satisfactory performance and mutual agreement, with an attractive salary, benefits and gratuity package commensurate with seniority of the position and qualification of the successful candidate.
