FINANCE AND LOGISTICS MANAGER
Cricket Malawi (CM) is the governing body of cricket in Malawi, an affiliate of the Malawi National Council of Sport (MNCS) and African Cricket Association (ACA), and an Associate Member of the International Cricket Council (ICC).
We are committed to competing at regional and international level while growing and popularising the sport across the country.
The Cricket Academy (TCA), a full member and the development & education wing of Cricket Malawi, delivers grassroots development, high-performance pathways, specialised player training, and education programmes for players, coaches, teachers and volunteers.
We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Finance and Logistics Manager to be based at The Cricket Academy Oval & High-Performance Centre in Blantyre (where Cricket Malawi offices are also located). This pivotal role supports the financial health, operational efficiency and logistical delivery of both Cricket Malawi and The Cricket Academy.
Technical knowledge of cricket is preferable but not essential, however, experience in sports administration or the not-for-profit sector would also be an advantage.
Key Responsibilities
Finance
- Develop, monitor and manage annual, periodic and specific budgets, financial forecasts and cash-flow projections.
- Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports for management, the Board and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, tax regulations and policies set by the Finance Committee and Board.
- Manage payroll, accounts payable/receivable, cash book and banking operations.
- Maintain the asset register and conduct regular asset verifications.
- Support fundraising, sponsorship, grant applications and donor reporting.
Logistics & Procurement
- Oversee local and international procurement, including supplier selection, contract negotiation and customs clearance.
- Manage fleet, facility and stores operations, ensuring cost-effective maintenance and utilisation.
- Work closely with the Stores Manager to maintain accurate stock records and conduct regular stock counts.
- Coordinate logistics for events, teams, training camps and international tours.
- Develop contingency plans to mitigate logistical risks and disruptions.
- Liaise with the Food & Beverage Manager, operations team, vendors and service providers
Strategic & General
- Provide strategic advice to the leadership team on resource allocation, cost control and operational efficiency.
- Ensure adherence to all national and international sporting regulations and governance requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and service providers.
- Report directly to the CM President & CEO
Location & Working Arrangements
The role is based at TCA Oval & High-Performance Centre, Blantyre. Due to the nature of the work, the post holder will carry out duties at times/days which are most effective to perform the tasks required. This may involve some out-of-hours work (evenings, weekends, Bank Holidays) as necessary. The post holder is responsible for tracking their hours and taking relevant time off in lieu. Days off cannot be transferred to the following year or paid in lieu. Average working week is 40 hours. Some travel Nationally and Internationally may be required.
Person Specification
Essential
- Degree in Accountancy, Finance or a closely related field.
- Minimum 5 years’ relevant experience in finance and/or logistics management.
- Full clean driver’s licence (Class D1 – passenger vehicle – an advantage).
- Strong IT skills, particularly Excel and accounting packages.
- High level of integrity, attention to detail and ability to work with minimal supervision.
- Reliable, traceable references
Advantageous
- Experience in sports administration, NGO or not-for-profit environment.
- Familiarity with donor/grant funding and compliance.
- Professional accounting qualification (ACCA, CPA or equivalent)
