Job Purpose
The Credit Risk Analyst evaluates the financial health and credit worthiness of businesses. Reporting to the Credit Risk Assessment Specialist, the Credit Risk Analyst’s underwriting role is to conduct due diligence on credit/investments applications from customers and recommend approval or rejection of an application. The Credit Risk Analyst’s responsibilities shall include, but not limited to the following:
a) Credit/Investment Assessment
- Receive and review credit application information from Origination and Special Projects (OSP) Department.
- Analyse applicant’s financial data, credit history and cashflow to determine capacity and viability of the business.
- Ensure that advanced analytics and modelling are compliant with the set policies and regulations.
b) Risk Management
- Evaluate and monitor the risk profile of new and existing borrowers, including performing stress testing and scenario analysis.
- Facilitate restructuring of struggling projects.
c) Policy and Compliance
- Ensure all lending activities align with internal, legal and regulatory requirements such as DFI Directives.
d) Project Monitoring and Reporting
- Conduct field visits to track project progress and address shortfalls identified during the monitoring process.
- Prepare detailed credit analysis reports and present recommendations to management.
Qualifications, Experience, Skills, and Competencies
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Finance, Accounting, Business Management, or related field.
- A minimum of 4 years’ experience in underwriting credit applications in banking or any other financial operations.
- Demonstrable excellent professional writing skills.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills with good attention to detail and ability to interpret complex financial information.
- Proficiency in financial modelling, data analysis and advanced-level Microsoft Excel, as well as ability to communicate professionally and clearly.
- Strong organizational and project management skills are an added advantage.
