Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences (ECOHS)
Ekwendeni College of Health Sciences (ECOHS), established in 1946 is a constituent college of the University of Livingstonia and a member institution of the Christian Health Association of Malawi (CHAM). The College is owned by the CCAP Synod of Livingstonia and is committed to the training of competent healthcare professionals grounded in Christian values and guided by strong professional ethics. The College aims at providing a conducive teaching and learning environment that promotes excellence in health sciences education and contributes to the strengthening of Malawi’s healthcare system. To achieve this goal, ECOHS continuously strives to strengthen its academic and administrative structures in order to support effective service delivery and institutional growth. Therefore, the College wishes to fill the existing gaps and invites suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions.
Position: Senior Lecturer
Grade: H (Government Scale)
Reports to: Head of Department
Contract Terms: Full time
Requirements
- A Master’s Degree in Adult Health Nursing or Critical
- Registered with Nurses and Midwives Council of Malawi.
- Minimum of 3 years of teaching and clinical experience.
- A committed Christian.
Duties and Responsibilities
Teaching
- Plan students theory and clinical teaching and learning according to Medical Council of Malawi Syllabus
- Source for training and learning materials
- Teach the specified curriculum in the classroom
- Teach learners in the clinical area in collaboration with clinical staff
- Assess and evaluating students theoretical, practical abilities and general behavior
- Submit reports to the Head of Department
- Collaborate with significant others and stakeholders
- Maintain appropriate records for each student
- Encourage students spiritual development
- Mentors faculty members and clinical staff
- Evaluates and recommends new ways of improving teaching and learning
- Provides timely feedback to learners
Administration and Management
- Participate in in-service training
- Leads in internal external examinations and assessments
- Guides in college curriculum review
- Attends faculty, college, hospital and other relevant meetings
- Acts as a resource person for own specialty
- Participates in strategic management reviews
- Participates in preparation of faculty budget
