BACKGROUND
The Ministry of Health and Sanitation through Public Health Institute of Malawi (PHIM) has been engaged in a long-term collaboration with its Norwegian counterpart, the Norwegian Institute of Public Health (NIPH). Building on the Global Health Preparedness Programme, the BIS 1 programme aims to contribute to building competent and resilient health systems underpinned by strong public health institutions. The BIS 2 programme is starting, with a duration of 4 years.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITIONS
The project aims to strengthen PHIM’s networks, its ability to communicate with target groups (website etc.), and its accounting capacity. It also aims to support the Mmed PH programme, a PhD candidate, and PHIM’s access to scientific knowledge, as well as to support the IDSR, the ‘one health approach,’ and the integration of lab data into surveillance
POSITION — Partnerships Coordinator
KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Follow up grants and contract management with partners and donors to PHIM
- Ensure adequate information flow between PHIM and partners/donors, such as organising coordination meetings between partners, donors and PHIM
- Set up a financial management system at PHIM
- Support the office in writing reports and memos, preparing meetings and in following up issues related to the running of the institute
- Be the contact point for NIPH on the BIS 2 project
QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Masters in Finance / MBA majoring in Finance / Management and accounting.
- At least 8 years’ experience working with international donors and/or NGOs.
SKILLS AND ATTRIBUTES
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Responsive, efficient, and excellent teamwork and networking skills
- Flexibility and ability to prioritise and handle multiple tasks and short deadlines. Excellent time management skills.
- Fluency in spoken English, Chichewa and demonstrated written communication skills in English and the ability to develop presentations
- Demonstrated experience from the health system and health administration in Malawi, including a thorough understanding of the role of PHIM.
SELECTION CRITERIA
A committee of HR at MOH, leadership at PHIM and its partner NIPH will review the applications.
TENURE OF OFFICE
The successful candidate shall be offered a 1-year contract renewable based on satisfactory performance.
REMUNERATION
The position is remunerated in line with the Malawian public civil service salary structure of a Deputy Head of department at Grade E.
