INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY SPECIALIST

The Public Private Partnership Commission (the PPPC) is seeking to engage a visionary, dynamic, self-motivated, highly innovative and suitably qualified person to fill the position of IT Specialist.

The Position
The IT Specialist shall report to the Director, Finance and Administration and the position is tenable at the PPPC Secretariat in Blantyre. The position requires a mature multidisciplinary professional with a demonstrable track record of unquestioned integrity, agility, resilience, creativity and a sworn devotion to the cause of private sector involvement in the development of public infrastructure and services in the country.

Accordingly, the IT Specialist shall work closely with Directors at the PPPC, and will be responsible for the overall planning, organizing, and execution of all IT functions for the PPPC. This includes researching and planning for the implementation of the most recent technologies in the industry and providing the vision and leadership for designing, developing, and implementing IT initiatives that create value for the commission. Maintaining PPPC’s effectiveness and efficiency by defining. delivering, and supporting strategic plans for implementing information technologies.

Key Role Responsibilities:

The IT Specialist must-

  • have knowledge in configuration, administration and maintenance of Windows server platforms on both physical and virtual machines have experience in configuration of Active Directory’s Domain Services (ADDS), Group Policy Management, DNS, DHCP
  • have experience in configuration and administration of Microsoft 365 applications including but not limited to Exchange Online, SharePoint
  • Online, Power Automate, Lists, Planner
  • have technical expertise in networking configurations including Ethernet, centralized WiFi access points configurations, VPN,
  • have experience working with Check Point firewalls
  • configuring and administrating Network Attached Storage (NAS) and ensuring remote access of shared drives for employees.
  • have proven experience working with website Content Management Systems (CMS)
  • have experience maintaining and repairing general Computer equipment.
  • must clearly demonstrate his/her understanding of different software packages and hands on experience.
  • demonstrate the ability to implement ICT related projects.
  • demonstrate experience on deploying ICT security network solutions- ensure protection of the Commission from Cyber-attacks.
  • demonstrate the ability to provide user training on a one-on-one basis on the use of computers and other software packages.
  • developing strategic partnerships with key IT suppliers, vendors and consultant organizations.
  • managing the system hardware, operating systems, software, and procedures in a manner that adhere to the PPPC’s values and goals.
  • provide overall IT governance for the Commission.
  • managing IT budgets:
    • agreeing costs, timescales and standards to be met and monitoring these throughout projects.
    • creating a budget for each project as well as managing the financial aspects of the entire IT section such as purchases and ongoing budgeting.
    • accomplishing financial objectives by forecasting requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analysing variances; initiating corrective action.
  • keeping up to date with the most recent technologies and advising on what new technological solutions will meet business and systems requirements;
  • ensuring software licences are up to date;
  • administration of managed Anti-virus software
  • implement both local and remote disaster recovery and back-up procedure;
  • lead and coordinate selection, installation, operation, support, and maintenance of PPPC information
  • technology infrastructure; and formulation and updating of the IT Policy

Qualifications and Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in any computer related fields
  • Certifications in Microsoft Certified Solutions Associate (MCSA) / Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or CISCO Networking Certified Engineer will be an added advantage
  • At least five years of hands-on experience in the IT field
  • Excellent knowledge of technical management, information analysis and of computer hardware/software systems
  • Hands-on experience with computer networks, network administration and network installation

Remuneration
