MALAWI COUNTRY ADMINISTRATOR
Title: Malawi Country Administrator

Reports to: CISP Country Representative
Supervises: Admin team in Malawi
Start of work: February 2026
Duration: 12 months renewable contract
Indicative gross monthly salary: approximately MWK 2,200,000, in accordance with internal salary scales and subject to statutory deductions
Background Information
CISP is a Non-Governmental Organization with its Headquarters in Rome, Italy, and an equal employment opportunity employer. CISP Malawi carries out projects in the areas of agriculture and rural development, management of natural and environmental resources, economic empowerment, food security, and value chain development, by supporting national and local authorities, local communities, and CSOs. CISP Malawi has its head office in Lilongwe and with current field offices in Karonga and Nkhotakota. CISP Malawi is soon opening offices in Blantyre, Mwanza, and Chikwawa.
Main Role and Responsibilities
- Establish and maintain financial management and accounting control systems for projects’ expenditures.
- Ensure compliance of financial and operations systems with CISP policies and procedures, donor rules and regulations, and award requirements.
- Ensure compliance with local regulations.
- Ensure financial records organization, retention, and security.
- Lead the preparation, updating, and monitoring of project financial plans in coordination with project teams.
- Liaise between field and headquarters offices.
- Review transfer of funds requests from the field offices, process their payments, and manage accounting and finance records of all expenses.
- Manage personnel files and payroll
- Provide financial management and systems training for project staff.
- Draft periodic financial reports on financial status of project expenses and budget information.
- Ensure adequacy of processes of internal and external evaluations and audits.
- Ensure all financial risks related to the program are identified, early warning and mitigation measures are in place.
- Manage relationship with banks and other financial institutions.
- Process all payments.
Profile Required
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in one of the following relevant fields: Administration, Business Management, Management of non-profit organization and programs or related fields with at least 5 years work experience. Those with Master’s degree will have an added advantage.
Technical / Professional:
- Proven experience in financial and administrative management, implementation and monitoring of donor funded programs.
- Proven experience with international NGOs.
- Proven experience in financial, grant, budget, HR, and procurement management, including office operations and team supervision.
- Experience in preparing budgets and financial reports.
- Fluency with accounting and financial reporting programs.
- Capacity to keep up to date on financial matters and guidelines.
Personal:
- Very good communication skills: oral and written (English).
- Ability to maintain consistent high standards of professional behavior and achievement when working alone and in a team.
- Proactiveness, critical thinking and problem solving.
- Self-motivated, able to work unsupervised and under pressure.
- Able to motivate teams and bring the best out of people.
- Ability to effectively assess capacities, train and supervise personnel and partners, solve problems and mediate conflicts.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and ability to meet deadlines.
- Capacity to mentor, train, explain and support finance and program team.
