VACANCY: Electrician – Majete
STATUS: One-year contract subject to renewal based on performance
African Parks (AP) is a not-for-profit organization that secures a mandate to conserve through Public Private Parterships with Governments and communities for the rehabilitation and long-term management of protected areas in Africa, and here in Malawi, AF as secured this mandate for the management of Majete Willlife Reserve, Liwonde National Park and Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve.
An opportunity has arisen for the post of Electrician tenable at Majete Wildlife Reserve in Chikwawa
The Electrician will directly report to the Technical Supervisor but also work closely with other departments as required. Based at Technical Department the Electrician will oversee beyond electrical work, assist the Technical Supervisor with administrative and technical tasks, including procurement and planning for construction and maintenance projects within the Majete Wildlife Reserve
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
Key Responsibilities:
- Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems and equipment.
- Assist the Technical Supervisor with administrative duties such as procurement of construction and maintenance materials.
- Prepare and interpret site and building construction plans.
- Support in designing and planning electrical layouts for new projects.
- Ensure compliance with safety standards and African Parks Infrastructure and Logistics Standard Operating Procedures.
- Work with conservation teams to electrical infrastructure supports ensure wildlife conservation efforts.
- Respond to electrical emergencies, such as power outages, and perform repairs.
- Manage electrical equipment inventory and procure necessary supplies.
- Provide training and guidance to staff on electrical safety and basic maintenance procedures.
Requirements:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience as an electrician.
- Valid electrical certification or trade qualification
- Computer literacy is essential, with proficiency in AutoCAD and MS Office will have added advantage
- Knowledge in designing, planning, and interpreting construction plans.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to work independently.
- Commitment to safety and attention to detail.
- Must have a valid class ‘B’ or ‘Cl’ driver’s license
