VACANCY
New Apostolic Church Relief Organization (NACRO) is a faith-based Non-Governmental Organisation that was incorporated in Malawi in February 2011. Since inception, NACRO has been implementing actions aimed at supporting needy and disadvantaged communities through the delivery of projects in Education, Health, and Livelihoods.
NACRO is inviting applications for the following position under the Youth Vocational Skills Development Project being implemented in partnership with key stakeholders, including TEVETA:
PROJECT OFFICER (Two positions) – To be based in Mulanje and Mzuzu.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Project Officer will report to the Education & Resource Mobilization Coordinator, and will be responsible for coordinating all field activities of the Youth Vocational Skills Development Project (YVSDP) in the respective district. The major duties and responsibilities will include:
- Planning, coordinating, implementing, and monitoring all project activities in the assigned district.
Supporting the equipping of vocational training centres in collaboration with TEVETA and local partners. - Facilitating the enrolment and sponsorship of targeted youth (including youth with disabilities) in vocational skills training programs.
- Organizing entrepreneurship, business management, and financial literacy training sessions for project beneficiaries.
- Coordinating mentorship and coaching sessions with local entrepreneurs and skilled professionals.
- Supporting linkages between trained youth and private sector employers for apprenticeships and job placements.
- Facilitating the establishment and training of Village Savings and Loan (VSL) groups among youth beneficiaries to promote financial inclusion.
- Monitoring youth enterprise startups and providing ongoing technical and business advisory support.
- Collaborating with local councils, community structures, training institutions, and private sector partners to enhance efficiency and sustainability of project delivery.
- Supporting baseline, midline, and endline data collection, and contributing to project documentation, case studies, and reporting.
- Preparing timely monthly, quarterly, and annual progress reports in line with project requirements
- Managing project resources and budgets at district level in close collaboration with the Finance Department.
- Performing any other related duties assigned by the Education & Resource Mobilization Coordinator or senior management.
Requirements
Applicants should possess at least a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Entrepreneurship, Business Management, Social Work, Community Development, or any related field from a recognized institution. Candidates should have a minimum of two years’ experience in implementing vocational skills, youth empowerment, livelihoods, or community development projects.
The ideal candidate should demonstrate practical skills in project management, community mobilization, entrepreneurship training, and partnership Excellent analytical, communication, and report-writing skills are essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook) is required. Candidates must be self-motivated, results-oriented, and able to work independently with minimal supervision. Possession of a motorcycle driving license will be an added advantage.
