Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position:

AIR CONDITIONING TECHNICIAN ON GRADE B5 – BASED IN BLANTYRE

Reporting to the Energy and Site Manager, the Air Conditioning Technician shall be responsible for ensuring 100% availability of air conditioning systems at all TNM sites, offices, shops, server rooms and Limbe Data Centre by carrying out new air con installations, planned maintenance and repairs.

Major Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Conduct installations of air conditioners within BT and South region BTS sites, offices, shops, server rooms and data centres.
  • Develop annual maintenance plans and carry out planned maintenance of air con systems within BT
    and South regions.
  • Assist in planning, designing procuring and implementing air conditioning capacity upgrades at various BTS sites, shops, server rooms and data centres.
  • Manage availability of air conditioner spares and consumables, including planning and executing repair and return of faulty spares and procurement of new spares.
  • Supervise air conditioning sub-contractors to ensure compliance with safety and quality workmanship on service delivery.

Education, Professional and Other Requirements:

  • National Trade Test or related qualification in refrigeration and air conditioning.
  • City and Guilds Advanced Diploma in refrigeration and air conditioning systems will be an added advantage.
  • Skills in Power systems installation, operations and Maintenance.
  • Advanced knowledge and skills in operations and maintenance of Liebert PDX HVAC Coolingsys-tems.
  • Maintenance planning skills.
  • Ability to analyse complex scenarios and make appropriate decisions under stressful situations.
  • Valid driver’s license is highly desirable.
