POSITION OVERVIEW
The Clinical Service Manager is responsible for providing general pediatric medical care while offering operational leadership for key clinical support services, including Radiology, Pharmacy, and Laboratory.
This role ensures the delivery of high-quality, safe, and patient-centered healthcare services through effective clinical governance, staff supervision, multidisciplinary collaboration, and continuous quality improvement. The position integrates clinical practice with health service management to align departmental functions with the hospital’s broader healthcare objectives.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
A. Clinical Duties (General Pediatric Medicine)
- Conduct comprehensive pediatric medical assessments, monitor growth and development, and document normal findings.
- Evaluate and manage sick children of all ages by obtaining clinical history, performing examinations, and identifying health concerns.
- Formulate accurate diagnoses based on clinical evaluation and evidence-based practice.
- Prescribe medications appropriately and provide clear dosage, counseling, and follow-up instructions.
- Request, interpret, and review laboratory and radiology tests to support clinical decision-making.
- Provide pre-operative medical assessments and clearances for pediatric patients scheduled for surgery.
- Monitor patient progress, adjust treatment plans as necessary, and ensure high-quality clinical documentation.
- Manage minor injuries and coordinate referrals to specialists when needed, ensuring proper communication and follow-up.
- Advise parents and caregivers on preventive child health measures, including nutrition, immunizations, hygiene, and disease prevention.
- Review inpatient cases on request and participate in ward rounds and multidisciplinary care planning.
- Engage in continuing professional development and maintain up-to-date pediatric knowledge and skills.
B. Leadership & Departmental Oversight
- Provide operational oversight and support to Radiology, Pharmacy, and Laboratory departments to ensure the delivery of timely, accurate, and high-quality diagnostic and therapeutic services.
- Collaborate with department heads and clinical teams to improve workflows, strengthen interdisciplinary communication, and enhance patient outcomes.
- Monitor departmental performance using KPIs, standards, and clinical governance tools; implement corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure departmental compliance with regulatory requirements, safety protocols, and hospital policies.
- Oversee HR-related functions for Radiology, Pharmacy, and Laboratory teams, including:
- Participating in recruitment, selection, and onboarding of staff.
- Supporting performance management, including appraisals, coaching, and corrective action processes.
- Identifying staffing needs and participating in workforce planning.
- Promoting staff development, continuous training, and competency assessments.
- Fostering a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work environment.
- Ensuring compliance with HR policies, professional standards, and scope-of-practice regulations.
- Support staffing, mentoring, and development needs within Radiology, Pharmacy, and Laboratory teams.
- Participate in quality assurance activities, risk management, audits, and accreditation processes.
- Contribute to strategic planning related to service growth, technology upgrades, and operational optimization across clinical service departments.
- Participate in outreach and community engagement programs as required
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Must hold Master’s degree in Public Health or Pediatrics & Child Health or Health Management Systems or a closely related field.
- Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS).
- Valid and current registration with the Medical Council and an active practicing license.
- Minimum of two (2) years of clinical experience in a hospital or private practice setting (pediatric experience preferred).
- ACLS, BLS & PALS certifications (may be updated upon hiring).

- Proficiency in English; fluency in a local language may be required depending on location.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, particularly in working with children and families.

- Ability to coordinate multiple clinical service areas effectively and maintain high professional standards.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT
- Fixed-term contract: 2 years (renewable) based on performance and organizational needs.
