Country Manager (Malawi)

Duty Station: Lilongwe

Position Overview

The Country Manager – Malawi is responsible for overseeing Astria Learning’s operations, partnerships, and business growth within Malawi. This role ensures seamless coordination between local institutions and Astria’s regional and global teams, driving the implementation of educational technology solutions and maintaining high service quality standards across all university partnerships.

Key Responsibilities

Strategy & Operations

  • Lead and oversee all Astria Learning operations In Malawi, ensuring alignment with company oblectives.
  • Develop and execute strategic plans to expand Institutional partnerships and corporate accounts.
  • Supervise and support local teams (Admissions, Marketing, IT, Academic Support) to achleve performance targets.
  • Monitor key performance Indicators (KPls) related to university service delivery, student engagement, and project timellnes.
  • Prepare country performance reports and present operational updates to the Regional Operations Manager.

Partnerships & Stakeholders

  • Act as the primary point of contact for partner universities and government education bodles in Malawi.
  • Coordinate Institutional onboarding, contract execution, and project Implementation.
  • Support university leadership teams in leveraging Astria’s platforms (ACMS, LMS, ADL, and
    Astria Tab).
  • Represent Astria Learning at educational fairs, conferences, and partner meetings.

Business Development

  • Identify new partnership opportunitles within higher education and corporate training sectors.
  • Lead outreach and presentations to potential partners and organizations.
  • Collaborate with the marketing and sales teams to design and execute locallzed campaigns.
  • Contribute to pricing strategy and proposal development for institutional clients.

Compliance & Administration

  • Ensure adherence to local labor, tax, and business regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation for contracts, compllance filings, and government relations.
  • Support Internal audits, pollcy rollouts, and performance revlews In coordination with the HR and QA departments.
  • Manage local budget and expense tracking in line with financlal reporting standards.

Team Leadership

  • Recrult, mentor, and manage the Malawl team, ensuring alignment with Astria’s culture and performance standards.
  • Conduct regular staff meetings, evaluations, and capacity-bullding sessions.
  • Promote cross-departmental collaboration between local teams and HQ divisions (IT, Product, Admissions, Marketing).

Qualifications & Skills

Education

  • Bachelor’s Degree In Business Administration, Education Management, IT, or related fleld (Master’s preferred).

Experience

  • Minimum 5 years of experlence in operations, business development, or higher education management
  • Proven track record in managing partnerships with universities or educational institutions.
  • Experlence working in reglonal or international organizations preferred.

Key Competencies

  • Strong leadership, planning, and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and reporting abllities.
  • Deep understanding of higher educatlon systems in Malawi.
  • Proficlency In Microsoft Office Sulte: familiarity with CRM or ERP tools (e.g., Odoo, Hubspot) Is an asset.
  • Ability to travel within Malawi and occasionally regionally.
