Registered in 2006, GL’s thematic focus areas include climate-smart agriculture, agribusiness enterprise development, natural resource and green enterprise development, and environmental sustainability.

GL’s primary target beneficiaries are small-scale farmers, with a strategic focus on youth and women.

Guided by its vision of a “Nation with sustainable livelihoods,” GL’s mission is to partner with smallholder farmers (SHFs) in co-creating solutions to their development challenges arising from poverty-driven vulnerabilities, climate change, and gender disparities.

Green Livelihoods is inviting suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following part-time position:

Job Title: ICT and Communications Officer (Part-Time)

The Part-Time ICT and Communications Officer will provide technical, digital, and communication support to Green Livelihoods on a remote basis, with availability to work from the organization’s offices when required or for specific scheduled days.

The Officer will be responsible for managing GL’s online presence, maintaining ICT systems, supporting digital platforms (including the Bamboo Marketplace, GL website, and social media channels), and building capacity among GL staff and stakeholders in ICT and communications.

Scope of Work / Job Description

A. Green Livelihoods Website Management

  • Manage, update, and maintain the official Green Livelihoods website.
  • Ensure website content is current, engaging, and aligned with organizational priorities.
  • Monitor website performance, analytics, and security.
  • Optimize the website for mobile accessibility and user-friendly experience.
  • Coordinate regular updates and backups to maintain smooth functionality.

B. Social Media Management and Digital Marketing

  • Manage and grow GL’s social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, X/Twitter, YouTube, etc.).
  • Develop and implement digital marketing strategies to enhance engagement and visibility.
  • Create and schedule posts, design graphics, and manage social media campaigns.
  • Monitor analytics and prepare monthly performance reports.

C. Bamboo Marketplace Platform Support

  • Provide ongoing support and maintenance for the Bamboo Marketplace website and mobile application.
  • Ensure integration between GL’s main platforms and the marketplace.
  • Troubleshoot technical issues related to the app and website functionality.
  • Support the app’s user base, including artisans, committee members, and customers.
  • Maintain and enhance app features and user experience.
  • Develop a sustainability plan for the Bamboo Marketplace and other ICT systems.

D. ICT Support and Maintenance

  • Provide technical support for hardware (computers, printers, networking devices) and software (applications, operating systems, antivirus tools, etc.).
  • Maintain and update ICT infrastructure to ensure smooth and secure operations.
  • Support setup, configuration, and troubleshooting of ICT equipment.
  • Develop and implement data backup and cybersecurity protocols.

E. ICT Training and Capacity Building

  • Provide ICT and digital literacy training to GL staff, the Bamboo Marketing Committee, partners, and artisans.
  • Conduct hands-on workshops on digital tools, social media usage, and online safety.
  • Develop training materials and user guides to support continuous learning.
  • Build capacity among staff to independently manage online content and basic ICT tasks.

F. Communications and Content Creation

  • Develop and design communication materials (brochures, newsletters, flyers, reports, etc.).
  • Ensure all communications adhere to GL’s branding and messaging guidelines.
  • Capture and document success stories, project highlights, and field activities.
  • Support both online and onsite event coverage and media relations where required.

H. Reporting and Coordination

  • Prepare regular reports on ICT, communications, and digital engagement activities.
  • Work closely with Project Officers and management to align ICT and communication strategies with organizational goals.
  • Provide technical advice and recommendations to support ongoing digital transformation.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field from a recognized institution.
  • Minimum of three (3) years’ experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in English and Chichewa.
  • Self-starter capable of working with minimal supervision and meeting deadlines.
  • Proficiency in digital and social media management tools.
