VACANCIES – INTEGRATING MENTAL HEALTH INTO PRIMARY HEALTH CARE SYSTEM IN LILONGWE ARCHDIOCESE
Background of the Organization.
St John of God Hospitaller Services [SJOG] is a faith based charitable organization established in Malawi in 1994 to contribute to the development of Health for all by providing both residential and community based mental health promotion and care, maternal mental health and child & adolescent psychiatry programs. SJOG Malawi also delivers early intervention programs, inclusive education and community-based rehabilitation for children with disabilities. It works in partnership with the Government of Malawi, partner organizations, the community and individual families, to provide quality mental health care and disability inclusion services which are accessible, sustainable and comprehensive. SJOG has program interventions in the areas of older persons; street connected children, psychosocial counselling support, addiction recovery and self-help group approach for women empowerment. SJOG operates a University of Health Sciences offering tertiary level training for psychiatric nurses, psychiatric clinicians, psychosocial counsellors and general nurses.
St John of God, with grant funding from the Italian Bishops’ Conference (CEI) will be implementing a three-year Integrating mental health into primary health care system project in Lilongwe Archdiocese and seeks to recruit qualified candidates for the following position:
Project Driver (1 Position – Lilongwe)
Reporting to the Transport officer, the Driver will provide reliable transportation service to the SJOG staff with safety as a top priority. He/She will be in constant communication with his/her supervisor regarding vehicle movement, maintenance, and repair needs, and suggestions for improved transportation processes.
Responsibilities (which include, but are not limited to);
- Drive SJOG vehicles in and out of assigned sites, arriving at destinations safely, following safety protocol, and ensuring staff and guest compliance with safety protocol while in the vehicle.
- Conduct daily oil and tyre checks property and ensure the cleanliness, functionality, and safety of the entire vehicle.
- Check and provide a timely report on all vehicle licenses and permit.
- Ensure that SJOG vehicles have the necessary equipment, e.g., spare tyre, toolbox, first aid kit, and other safety vehicle accessories.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date records on trip sheets, including the logbook, fuel records and refills, customer transportation forms, vehicle maintenance, incident reports, accident reports, vehicle condition reports, and other records that are requested by the transport officer
- Timely report any vehicle faults or repairs needed, and fill out an appropriate report.
- Perform other tasks or responsibilities as assigned from time to time by the situation or supervisor.
Requirements
- Minimum Malawi School Certificate Education or above
- Valid driving license (C1 or above)
- Minimum 2 years of experience working as a driver, which should include experience working with donor-funded or international organizations.
- Clean driving record and demonstration of safe driving techniques.
- Self-motivated attitude with the capacity to work both independently and with minimum supervision.
- Strict adherence to our Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy
