VACANCY ANNOUNCEMENT

Applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill a vacant position tenable in Finance Department at the Bank’s Head Office in Blantyre.

ASSETS AND LIABILITIES MANAGEMENT (ALM) OFFICER

JOB PURPOSE

Reporting to the Head of ALM, the position exists to analyse and optimise balance sheet management strategies within the risk management framework and risk appetite set by the Board.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

The successful candidate will be responsible for the following, among other responsibilities: –

  • Establishes and maintains systems and procedures to monitor and measure compliance of NBS bank balance sheets risk in line with ALM policy.
  • Maintains data per prescribed frequency
  • Prepares and submits monthly ALCO reports.
  • Monitors Liquidity management through review of cash flows forecasts, concentration reports and business pipelines.
  • Proposes strategies to Head ALM that will improve balance sheet profitability.
  • Ensures balance sheet complies with ALM policy, regulatory directives and applicable risk policies.
  • Perform budget reviews budgets to align with policy and regulatory ratios.
  • Evaluates the bank’s current and future Interest Rate Risk position for management action.
  • Monitors the Bank’s foreign currency exposures.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCES

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Economics, Banking, Finance or equivalent from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Possession of level 1 or advance level of FRM/ACI/CFA.
  • At least two years’ experience in ALM issues, Finance, Treasury or related environment.
  • Strong analytical and numerical aptitude
  • Clear verbal and written communication.
