The Mining and Minerals Regulatory Authority invites applications from suitably qualified applicants to fill the following positions existing at the Mining and Minerals Regulatory Authority.

Job Title: Inspection and Enforcement Officer
Grade: MR5
Reporting to: Senior Inspection and Enforcement Officer
Location: Mining and Minerals Regulatory Authority.

Purpose of the Job

To conduct inspections and investigations to ensure compliance with mining regulations and standards.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  1. Conducting routine site inspections to ensure compliance with safety, health and environmental legislation.
  2. Investigating complaints and incidents of non-compliance, documenting findings and reporting violations.
  3. Maintaining accurate records of inspection activities and enforcement actions.
  4. Conducting training sessions and outreach programs on safety protocols and environmental standards.
  5. Preparing detailed inspection and investigation reports for review by the Senior Inspection and
    Enforcement Officer.
  6. Monitoring the implementation of risk management measures at mining sites including administrative, engineering and personal protective equipment (PPE) measures.
  7. Collecting, reviewing and providing field data on mineral production to support broader regulatory reporting requirements, legislative updates and policy recommendations.
  8. Carrying out any other assigned duties from time to time.

Minimum Education Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering, Mineral Processing Engineering, Environmental Science, Environmental Health or Occupational Safety, Natural Resources Management and Ecology or related field obtained from a recognized and accredited Institution.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in mining safety or compliance.
  • Competency in basic hazard identification and compliance reporting
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to mining.
