Position Summary

There are 2.7 billion people with poor vision resulting in lost productivity, road accidents and poorer results in school. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the socioeconomic impact of poor vision to the world economy is around $272 Billion. Most cases of poor vision can be treated with a pair of eyeglasses. The challenge is to convert these non-wearers into new spectacle wearers through scalable and sustainable models that overcome the barriers of access and awareness. Enabling everyone throughout the world to enjoy good vision is the global public health issue at the heart of OneSight EssilorLuxottica Foundation’s mission. Our ambition is to eradicate poor vision from the world in one generation, by 2050.

We are looking for a dynamic self-starter individual to (a) support the scaling up of our Group Mission actions (inclusive business, philanthropy, advocacy) by supporting the expansion existing business models (b) execute and monitor new innovations across business models, partnerships, and technology to reach more people in need of glasses in Malawi.

Individual must be excellent at working on multiple projects at a time, focusing on the details while being able to undertake big picture challenges.

Major Tasks

Execute and monitor new business models & partnerships to support new access points (monitoring, support, documentation, project implications, scale up) 40%
  • Scaling up program activities and optimize existing business models and programs by working with multiple stakeholders
  • Support Incubation of new business innovation opportunities to increase access, awareness and financing for expanding our coverage in priority markets
  • Implement initiatives and monitor progress to increase effectiveness, efficiency and throughput of each business model / initiative
  • Support to identify key stakeholders and partnerships to increase Group Mission’s visibility and impact
  • Work closely with regional team to ensure KPI’s are achieved
Expand and ensure quality consistency of all internal and external primary vision care providers 30%
  • Liaise with local trainers and foundation regional team
  • Contribute to quality assessment process
  • Support and track the output of Primary Vision Care Providers
  • Support new launches and expansion
  • Work together with the training team to understand and optimize training process
Assist the Associate Director in strategy and market development to build on synergies across inclusive business, philanthropy and
advocacy actions and teams

Knowledge / Experience

Divisional or BU Experience Business development, Project Management, Business Model Innovation
Industries Experience Experience in project management, social business, Sales and/or healthcare sector preferred
Geographical Experience Prior work and/or study experience in Malawi
Work Experience 3-5 years of working experience, preferably in an entrepreneurial / high growth setting

Education /Qualification /Certification

Education /Qualification /Certification Degree in Marketing or Business Administration preferred
Language Excellent proficiency in English. Proficiency in other languages is a plus
Functional skills
  • Proficient in MS Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Proficiency in financial modelling and data analysis
  • Strong business acumen
  • Project Management skills
