Job Description for Truck Driver
The Truck Driver for AECI Plant Health Malawi is responsible for transportation of cargo through operation of a heavy vehicle in a timely manner and in compliance with the company’s safety standards and statutory road traffic regulations. Key duties includes conducting vehicle inspections, loading and securing cargo, delivering cargo to designated delivery points, handling of delivery documentations, maintaining up-to-date log books and liaison with dispatchers.
Key Responsibilities
- Transportation of cargo in an efficient manner using optimal routes to meet delivery schedules and adapting to prevailing circumstances
- Securing and safe custody of transit cargo from loading to delivery destinations
- Inspecting and maintaining accurate cargo delivery documentation, vehicle log book and other documents required in vehicle usage
- Conducting pre-trip vehicle inspections to detect any safety anomalies and assess mechanical functionality
- Performing basic vehicle service and cleaning to ensure that the vehicle is in immaculate condition : Operating company vehicles in compliance with all applicable traffic laws, company policies and occupational safety standards
- And any other duties as assigned by his/her supervisor
Requirements
- A holder of a Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE)
- A valid CE Driving License
- A professional driver’s permit Category GD
- Holders of a minimum of Trade Test Grade 3 in automotive mechanics will have an added advantage
- A minimum of 5 years of extensive experience of truck operation in all types of roads Physical fitness and preparedness to undergo a thorough pre-employment medical checkup
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
