Hotel Accountant
Location: Simama Hotel, Lilongwe
Reports to: General Manager / Chief Accountant
Employment Type : Full-Time
Position Summary
The Hotel Accountant will oversee Simama Hotel’s financial operations, including reporting, budgeting, and compliance.
This role is vital in ensuring financial accuracy, cost control, and efficient accounting procedures that support the hotel’s profitability and growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare financial statements, reconcile accounts, and oversee month-end/year-end processes.
- Assist in budget preparation and conduct variance analysis.
- Handle accounts payable/receivable, monitor transactions, and verify documentation.
- Maintain internal financial controls and ensure regulatory compliance
- Support audit processes and maintain accurate financial records.
- Manage accounting software and generate timely financial reports.
Prerequisites & Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Professional qualification (e.g., ACCA, ICAM/ICAM) preferred
- 5-7 years’ experience in hotel or hospitality finance.
- Proficiency in accounting systems (e.g., Opera, QuickBooks, Sage) and Microsoft Excel.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of IFRS and local tax laws is essential.
