VACANCY FOR ASSISTANT CUSTOMS CLEARING OFFICER

Malawi Cargo Logistics Ltd is a company formed by Malawi government to manage, promote and market the Dar-Es-salaam Corridor with the exit/Entry port of Dar Es salaam. The Government of Malawi has Cargo handling facilities in Dar Es Salaam and Mbeya. These are designated as Kurasini Dry Port in Dar es Salnam and Mbeya Dry Port with branches in Lilongwe, Blantyre and at Songwe Boarder. A Vacancy now exists for Assistant Customs Clearing officer tenable at Songwe.

Position: Assistant Customs Clearing Officer

Responsibilities: –

• Sales and Marketing of Malawi Cargo logistics Lid services. This function should enable the candidate to lobby clients to clear their consignments using Malawi Cargo Logistics Lid at Songwe boarder.
• Framing and pushing of Bills of Entries for both imports and exports to MRA and making follow-ups where necessary so that clients do not stay long before their cargo is released
• Conducting physical verification of the goods/containers/vehicles where necessary with Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA)
• Compiling timely reports to management on consignments cleared.
• Ensure that clients pay for the services timely and financial reports submitted to management on dally basis.
• Liaising with Tanzania offices on goods arrived at the border and acquit the bond
• Any other duties as may be assigned by management

The Person:-

• Must have Diploma in shipping, clearing and forwarding or Transport and logistics from a reputable institution with at least three years’ experience in the same Job. Those with Malawi Revenue Authority Customs and Clearing Specialist Certification will have an added advantage A Marketing qualification will be an added advantage too.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years hands on experience.
• Ladies of 30 years old and above will be given a preference.
• Be computer literate in Ms word, Excel and knowledge of Asycudda++/ Asycudda World
