Position: Civil Engineer (Water and Wastewater Infrastructure Development)

EMD Consulting Engineers is a Civil Engineering Consulting Firm based in Blantyre but with assignments across Malawi and provides multi-disciplinary services in the following sectors:

• Water Supply and Sanitation
• Irrigation Engineering
• Structural Engineering

Is looking for placement of Civil Engineers for Water and Wastewater infrastructure development.

Duties/Roles

• Design and Construction: Designing and overseeing the construction of water infrastructure like pipelines, pump stations, and treatment plants. Feasibility Studies and Design Work for Water Supply Systems and Water Related Infrastructure components
• Project Management: Managing all aspects of water-related projects, including budgets, schedules, and quality control.
• Water Resource Management: Assessing water resources, developing management plans, and ensuring sustainable use of water.
• Water and Wastewater Treatment: Working with treatment processes and technologies for both water and wastewater. Feasibility Studies and Design Work for Wastewater Systems and Related Infrastructure components
• Feasibility Studies and Design Work for Solid Waste Systems and Related
  Infrastructure components
• Field Operations: Overseeing construction, implementation, and monitoring of projects in the tield
• Technical Support: Providing technical expertise and support to other team members or clients.
• Community Engagement: Engaging with communities to understand their needs and ensure project success.
• Reporting and Documentation: Preparing reports, technical documentation, and maintaining project records.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering/Water and Wastewater Engineering
• Registrable with Malawi Engineering Institution (MEI)
• Minimum of 8 years of engineering experience in design and construction supervision;
• Technical Skills: Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., for modeling or design), knowledge of relevant regulations, and experience with water systems.
• Soft Skills: Strong communication, teamwork, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
