JOB VACANCY: PRODUCTION OFFICER

About the Role:
The Production Officer will play a crucial role in ensuring the efficient and safe operation of our distillation plant and overall site maintenance. This position requires a proactive individual who can manage production schedules, maintain machinery, oversee quality control, and lead a team effectively.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Organize and conduct repair, routine maintenance, and inspection of all machinery and equipment at the distillation plant.
- Plan production schedules and ensure daily targets are consistently met.
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations, prioritizing worker safety at all times.
- Order necessary materials for the department to maintain smooth operations.
- Oversee the maintenance of high oil quality from production through to storage.
- Manage all welding and metal fabrication works within the company.
- Be responsible for the upkeep of HQ premises, Kalungulu compound, Guest House, Managing Director’s house, and the school.
- Submit comprehensive monthly reports to the Operations Manager.
- Undertake any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Minimum Requirements:
- Education: Diploma or City and Guilds Certificate Grade 1 in Metal Fabrication/Welding, General Fitting, or a related technical field.
Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years in a supervisory role within a manufacturing or distillation environment.
- Demonstrated knowledge and experience in Steam Boiler management and maintenance.
- Proven experience managing production schedules, equipment maintenance, and inventory control.
Skills & Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of safety protocols, including fire risk management and handling of volatile compounds.
- Proficiency in Steam distillation processes, especially for citronellalrich oils, is a distinct advantage.
- Understanding of biomass preparation and oil yield optimization.
- Familiarity with quality control standards and chemical composition analysis.
- Exceptional team management and training capabilities.
- Basic knowledge in electricity wiring and maintenance.
