
Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA)
The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act (Cap. 68:01 of the Laws of Malawi) to regulate the country’s communications sector. Under the Communications Act of 2016, MACRA is mandated to regulate and monitor the provision of communications services and ensure that, as far as it is practicable, reliable and affordable communications services are provided throughout Malawi.

In order to fulfil its mandate effectively and efficiently with strategic leadership and management, an opportunity has arisen within MACRA to fill vacant positions. The positions are highly demanding and requires persons who have demonstrable capacity to initiate innovations geared at making MACRA a rejuvenated, vibrant and competitive Authority. The following are the details of the position:
Muuni Fund is a digital innovation and entrepreneurship fund under MACRA that supports and promotes digital innovation and entrepreneurship in Malawi. The Fund is established in line with section 6(2)(f) of the Communications Act, which encourages the introduction of new technologies and communication services in line with recognised international standards and applicable law. An opportunity has arisen within Muuni Fund to fill vacant positions. The positions are for one-year temporary basis. The following are the details of the position:
JOB TITLE: Project Officer- Communications (Temporary)

JOB PURPOSE
The Project Officer-Communications will support the execution of communication strategies for the Fund. The incumbent is responsible for content creation, stakeholder engagement, events promotion, digital communications and reporting to ensure visibility, transparency, and engagement across all fund activities.
MAIN DUTIES OF THE JOB
- Content Development: Draft and design engaging content for newsletters, social media, press releases, reports, and websites to showcase the fund’s impact and reach.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Coordinate communication with innovators, beneficiaries, partners, media, and internal teams to ensure consistent and strategic messaging.
- Community Engagement: Work closely with innovators to document stories, gather testimonials, and highlight progress across funded projects.
- Representation & Outreach: Represent the fund at conferences, innovation events, forums, and stakeholder meetings to promote its work and build partnerships.
- Campaign & Event Support: Support the planning and promotion of fund-related activities, including calls for proposals, pitch events, workshops, and award ceremonies.
- Digital Media Management: Manage and grow the fund’s online presence, including regular updates on social media, website content, and digital campaigns.
- Monitoring & Reporting: Track communication activities and impact metrics, compiling reports and recommendations to improve visibility and engagement.
- Any other duties as assigned from time to time.
REQUISITE QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
The desired candidate must possess the following qualifications and experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or a related field.
- Minimum of one year working experience
