Africa Global Logistics Malawi Limited is a subsidiary of a multinational corporation MSC. Africa Global Logistics (AGL) is a leading Freight Forwarding and Logistics company in the country. The Group is one of the leading integrated logistics network operators in Africa with concessions in ports and railways. In Malawi we operate the entire logistics service range from international freight forwarding to warehousing and distribution management. The company intends to recruit suitably qualified and experienced persons to fill the following positions tenable at our Kanengo offices in Lilongwe on fixed term contracts.
BRANCH MANAGER
The Branch Manager to oversee and manage functions of our operations in central and North of Malawi. This job suits someone who enjoys a client facing role and the challenge of growing the business. As such, the ideal candidate must be an effective communicator with excellent leadership skills. He/she must additionally, be results oriented and creative in addition to having strong business-development skills and the ability to interact with clients, staff, and management.
Requirements
- Active participation in preparation of Branch budgets with support of managers and monitoring of these budgets during the Financial Year.
- Make monthly reports and submit them to the Managing Director.
- Observe all expenditure limits as prescribed by the Head Office in Blantyre and obtain authorisation for above limit expenditure from the Financial Controller / Managing Director.
- Maintain contact with key clients
- Motivate senior staff to maintain contact with clients.
- Maintain business with existing clients and develop and grow new business in all areas of our business endeavour.
- Closely monitor the serviceability of all our equipment and ensure preventative maintenance where necessary.
- Close contact with our professional service specialists to keep down time on equipment to an absolute minimum.
Minimum Education and Experience
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration or its equivalent, those with Masters will have an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive management experience, with at least 5 years in a managerial role.
- Previous experience working in multinational or cross-cultural environments.
Preferred candidates are those with strong leadership of motivating a team for high productivity. Candidates should also be mature with high proficiency skills in Microsoft word, excel, outlook and power point.
