The Chesney Trust for Education is a non-profit organisation with focus on girl child education and empowerment of young women. Through the Board of Trustees and the office of the secretariat, Chesney Trust owns and runs Edinburgh Girls High school as a major project.
Edinburgh Girls High school is an institution located 2km from Eng’congolweni in Mzimba. The school fosters academic excellence, moral integrity, and leadership development for young women. With a rich history of producing well-rounded graduates, the school emphasizes holistic education, nurturing creativity, critical thinking, and community engagement.

Accountant
JOB DESCRIPTION
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Accountant with expertise in QuickBooks to join our finance team. In this role, you will manage day-to-day accounting tasks, ensure accurate financial reporting, and contribute to the financial health of our organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage full-cycle accounting processes using QuickBooks Online/Desktop.
- Prepare and maintain financial records, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger entries, and bank reconciliations.
- Process payroll and ensure compliance with tax regulations.
- Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis.
- Collaborate with external auditors and support tax filing processes.
- Identify opportunities to streamline accounting workflows and improve efficiency.
- Ensure compliance with relevant financial regulations.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 years of hands-on accounting experience.
- Proficiency in QuickBooks (Online and/or Desktop) is essential.
- Strong understanding of accounting principles, financial reporting, and tax compliance.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Advanced Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Ability to work independently and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication skills for cross-departmental collaboration.
