The Opportunity

Save the Children is inviting applications from suitably qualified individuals for the position of Technical Coordinator – Food Security and Livelihoods (FSL) for the THRIVE Project, based in Zomba.

This role will provide technical leadership and oversight for all food security and livelihoods components of THRIVE; a multi-year project funded by AICS. The coordinator will support climate-resilient agriculture, agroecology, livestock, irrigation, and enterprise development to enhance food production, incomes, and market access for vulnerable communities.

The post holder will work closely with implementing partners, government stakeholders, and MEAL teams to ensure high-quality, integrated programming aligned with national priorities. Capacity building, gender and climate integration, and evidence-based learning will be key elements of the role.

In the event of a major humanitarian emergency, the role holder will be expected to work outside the normal role profile and be able to vary working hours accordingly.

To be successful, you will bring/have: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in agriculture, Natural Resource Management, Rural Development, or a related discipline
  • Good command of English (written and verbal)
  • Strong expertise in agroecology, climate-smart agriculture, irrigation, smallholder systems, and economic empowerment
  • Good understanding of best practices for achieving and sustaining youth engagement
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in technical coordination of food security, livelihoods, and agricultural development projects
  • Experience working in humanitarian contexts
  • Demonstrated experience with government departments, NGOs, and community-based structures
  • Proven skills in project planning, technical training, supervision, and stakeholder engagement
  • Ability to work as part of a field team and coordinate effectively with partner staff
