The Malawi School of Government (MSG) is a unique higher education Statutory Corporation established under the Act of Parliament No. 33 of 2022. Our core mission is to shape Malawi’s present and future by developing and delivering human resource development programmes and enhancing the capacity of the public and private sectors through education and training, research, consultancy, and advisory services.

MSG invites suitably qualified, motivated, and agile candidates to fill the following vacant positions tenable at its Secretariat and Kanengo Campus (formerly Malawi Institute of Management):

CONSULTANCY AND ADVISORY OFFICER

Location: Mpemba and Kanengo Campuses

Job Summary:
To support the effective implementation of Consultancy, Research, and Advisory services across MSG campuses, ensuring alignment with national development priorities.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Consultancy and Advisory Support

  • Assist in developing consultancy and advisory plans and performance targets.
  • Support client needs assessment and solution design.
  • Contribute to research methodology development and data analysis.
  • Offer coaching and mentorship to strengthen campus consultancy capacities.
  • Support the development of policy briefs and advisory documents.
  • Maintain databases and repositories of consultancy tools and outputs.
  • Upload relevant content to the MSG website.

Research

  • Support research issue identification and planning.
  • Assist in designing methodologies and analyzing data.
  • Provide training to improve staff research skills.
  • Support research grant proposal development.

Reporting

  • Submit timely monthly, quarterly, and annual reports.

Qualifications and Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Research, Statistics, M&E, Public Administration, Economics, Social Sciences, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience in research, consultancy, or advisory services
  • Strong research, analytical, facilitation, and report writing skills.
  • Experience in writing policy briefs and using data analysis tools is an added advantage.
