The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi. Its core business is to procure, transmit and distribute electric power in Malawi as well as manage System Market Operations and Single Buyer in Malawi.
ESCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions currently existing in the Optic Fiber Directorate of the Corporation.
Senior Engineer – Projects (1 Position)
Grade: ES6
Location: Blantyre
Supervised by: Chief engineer Operations
Purpose of the Job
To plan, manage and implement projects within budget, and with quality standards.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Defining the project’s scope, objectives, and deliverables in partnership with stakeholders.
- Developing project plans that include schedules, resource allocations, and budgets.
- Identifying potential risks and developing mitigation methods.
- Leading cross-functional teams (e.g., engineers, contractors, and vendors) to complete project objectives.
- Tracking project progress against milestones and modifying plans as needed.
- Ensuring compliance with quality standards, safety practices, and regulatory requirements.
- Offering technical advice and assistance to engineering teams.
- Evaluating and approving designs, specifications, and technical documents.
- Resolving technical issues that may develop throughout project execution.
- Serving as a primary point of contact for clients, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
- Providing regular project updates and presentations to Management.
- Managing stakeholder expectations and ensuring that they are in line with project goals.
- Keeping track of project expenses and ensuring they are within budget.
- Negotiating contracts with suppliers and contractors to find cost-effective solutions.

- Strong background in engineering with experience in project management tools,
- Expert in project management software
- Skilled in leading and motivating cross-functional teams to achieve project goals.
- Capable of analysing complex data and making informed, effective decisions.
- Excellent communication skills and a strong commitment to safety protocols.
Minimum Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in either Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications, Computer Engineering, Electronics, Information Technology
- 4 Years relevant experience
- Registered Engineer with MEI/ICTAM
- Those with project management qualifications on top of the above will have an added advantage.
