The National Oil Company of Malawi (NOCMA) is a government-owned company established under the Companies Act of 1984. Since its operational launch in 2012, NOCMA has been at the forefront of Malawi’s fuel security strategy. managing over 60 million litres of fuel reserves and operating strategic depots in Blantyre, Lilongwe, Mzuzu, Chilumba, Chipoka, and Mchinji.

Through strategic investments and operational excellence, NOCMA’s market share in fuel importation has grown significantly-from 10% in 2015 to an average of 65% in FY 2024/25.

Position Summary

NOCMA is seeking to recruit a highly motivated and results-driven individual for the position of Temporary Assistant Procurement and Disposal Officer. The successful candidate will support procurement and disposal functions to ensure compliance, efficiency, and thorough documentation in all processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with compilation of procurement requirements for Goods, Services and Works.
  • Assist with sourcing and analysing vendor quotations; preparing evaluation reports.
  • Assist with validation of purchase requisitions for completeness and accuracy.
  • Assist with preparation of Purchase Orders (POs) and monitoring supplier delivery timelines.
  • Assist with tendering processes, including documentation and procedural compliance.
  • Assist with opening and closing of tenders in line with internal procedures.
  • Maintain updated procurement records and reports for audit purposes.
  • Perform other procurement-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

  • An Advanced Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS)
  • A first degree in Procurement and Supply Chain Management from an institution accredited by NCHE will be an added.
  • Must be a registered member of the Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply (MIPS) in compliance with the Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply Act (No. 3 of 2016).
  • Minimum of 3 years cumulative experience, with at least 2 years in a similar role.
