
Deposit Insurance Corporation (DIC)
On behalf of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (DIC), the Reserve Bank of Malawi invites applications for the following positions, based in Blantyre, on a contract basis of up to two (2) years, renewable subject to satisfactory performance. The DIC commenced operations on 1st October 2023. It is mandated to implement and manage a deposit insurance scheme in Malawi, in accordance with the Deposit Insurance Corporation Act, 2022. PROCUREMENT OFFICER (1 POSITION)
Reporting to: Supervisor, Finance and Administration
Role Purpose
The Procurement Officer is responsible for executing and managing the procurement activities of the DIC efficiently, ethically, and in strict compliance with relevant legislation. This role is critical in ensuring the timely acquisition of quality goods, services, and works, achieving value for money, and upholding the integrity of the procurement process.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute the end-to-end procurement process for goods, services, and works
- Develop and manage relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Ensure compliance with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act (2025), the Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply Act (2016), and other relevant regulations
- Uphold and promote anti-corruption principles throughout all procurement dealings
- Maintain procurement records and documentation.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Need to Demonstrate:
- Ability to manage the full procurement cycle, from needs identification to contract close-out
- Skills in sourcing, tendering, bid evaluation, and contract negotiation
- Knowledge and application of the rules, guidelines, and procedures as stipulated in the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act (2025) and the Malawi Institute of Procurement and Supply Act (2016)
- Understanding of, and ability to comply with tax laws and regulations
- Commitment to ethical procurement practices, transparency, and the ability to resist and report any corrupt practices
- Ability to critically review and analyze procurement requests, bids, and contractual terms
- Communication and organizational skills
Experience and Educational background
- A Bachelor’s degree in Procurement/Supply Chain Management OR a Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS), coupled with a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrable, relevant experience in applying these procurement competencies
- Must be between 25 and 35 years of age
