The Agricultural Research and Extension Trust (ARET) is Malawi’s premier institution in tobacco research, extension and training services. Established in 1995 and funded primarily by tobacco growers, ARET’s core activities include development and dissemination of tobacco technologies and training of tobacco stakeholders to sustain and improve agricultural productivity while conserving natural resources.

An opportunity has arisen for highly motivated professionals with requisite academic qualifications and technical expertise to fill vacant positions as follows:

Motor Vehicle Driver -Lilongwe

Job purpose

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing secure and timely driving services to ARET officers and ensuring vehicle operation is in safe operating condition.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Undertake preventative maintenance of vehicles
  • Map out driving routes ahead of time to determine the most expedient trip.
    Assist passengers with loading and offloading their luggage, products, and materials.
  • Perform routine checks on vehicles.
  • Report vehicle faults and accidents.
  • Maintain interior and exterior cleanliness of vehicles by performing regular washing and cleaning.
  • Maintain Logbook and provide accurate time records Arrange for service and proper maintenance of vehicle.
  • Report any accidents, injuries and vehicle damage to relevant authorities.

Qualifications and Experience

  • MSCE
  • Driving License Code C1
  • Passenger Service Vehicle Drivers’ license essential
  • Defensive Driving License.
