
Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA)
The Malawi Communications Regulatory Authority (MACRA) is a statutory body established under the Communications Act (Cap. 68:01 of the Laws of Malawi) to regulate the country’s communications sector. Under the Communications Act of 2016, MACRA is mandated to regulate and monitor the provision of communications services and ensure that, as far as it is practicable, reliable and affordable communications services are provided throughout Malawi.

To fulfil its mandate effectively and efficiently with strategic leadership and management, an opportunity has arisen within MACRA to fill various vacant positions. The positions are highly demanding that require people who have demonstrable capacity to initiate innovations geared at making MACRA a rejuvenated, vibrant and competitive Authority. The following are the details of the vacant positions.
MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT (MA 4)
Job Purpose
The purpose of the position is to provide a wide of financial analysis and planning services to the Authority.
Key Duties and Responsibilities.
- Gathering and analyzing financial data for internal use through monthly and quarterly Management Accounts
- Assisting in the preparation at quarterly, mid and annual performance report
- Compile the Authority’s annual budget and forecast of income and expenditure in relation to the annual work plans drawn from the strategic plan
- Ensuring that financial management policies and procedures adhere to regulatory standards
- Monitor national and local financial developments, ensuring that the Authority is properly advised at new obligations, opportunities, and strategies.
- Asset Management (Acquisition, Maintenance and Disposal) to ensure that financial records reflect the correct value of the organisations in assets.
- Ensure that the Authority has effective payment and income procedures
- Ensures that audit recommendations directly related to management accountant are appropriately followed up and acted upon
- Supervise the Stores Department to ensure proper recording of receipts, issues, and accountability of stores items
- Interpreting financial data to non finance managers when needed
- Part of the team producing final audited accounts for MACRA
- Conduct financial appraisals for the Authority’s projects
- Provide training to finance personnel in bookkeeping and accounting when needed
- Provide training to Accpac users when needed
Key Attributes and competencies
The ideal candidate for the position is expected to have the following:
- Extensive knowledge in areas of finance and accounting
- Strong analytical, leadership, and communication skills.

Requisite Qualification and Experience
- Masters Degree in Finance or Accounting
- At least five (5) years’ experience in finance or accounting at senior level in a busy and challenging environment.
