The Electricity Supply Corporation of Malawi (ESCOM) Limited is incorporated under the Companies Act of the Laws of Malawi. Its core business is to procure, transmit and distribute electric power in Malawi as well as manage System Market Operations and Single Buyer in Malawi. ESCOM is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant position currently existing in the Optic Fiber Directorate of the Corporation.

NETWORK OPERATIONS CENTRE (NOC) ENGINEER (1 Position)
Grade : ES7
Location: Blantyre
Supervised by: Senior Engineer (Operations)

Purpose of the Job

Monitor the health status of network elements, performance and traffic patterns and ensure that all systems are secure and protected from malware.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

The NOC Engineer shall be responsible, but not limited to the following

  • Managing Technicians shift roster.
  • Monitoring network traffic for Transmission nodes, IP nodes, Access Network nodes, to identify issues that may impact service.
  • Implementing service configurations and provisioning.
  • Troubleshooting network Faults in collaboration with NOC team and Field team.
  • Handling new service requests and configurations for purposes of billing.
  • Managing tickets and ensuring they are closed within average resolutions time
  • Networking Performance Optimization,
  • Monitoring network Capacity and utilization trends.
  • Managing Security and incidents
  • Ensuring Service Level Agreement (SLA) Compliance
  • Maintaining open and clear communication with stakeholders
  • Managing customer records (ERP).
  • Preparing network availability system reports, MTTR

  • Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Communication Technology or its equivalent
  • Three (3) years relevant work experience.
