Overview

Safely driving staff to and from work, and also field sites; provides messenger duties and general assistant to the country office ensuring delivery of services is done with high quality, accuracy, and consistency with CIFOR-ICRAF policies and procedures

Duties and responsibilities

Summary of responsibilities

  1. Driving all ICRAF vehicles as directed including transporting staff, performing pickups and delivery tasks
  2. Ensuring that the vehicle in use is kept in good condition and to the highest level of cleanliness
  3. Ensuring routine vehicle maintenance and checks such as oil, water, tyres, lights, mirrors, etc. before commencing a trip and report any fault to the Administrator.
  4. Ensure that Log Books are kept up to date and that trips are signed by Officers, recording correctly and on time and passing the necessary information to the Administrator
  5. Ensuring vehicles are road worthy by having valid licenses and certificate of fitness
  6. Report any accident involving ICRAF vehicles as stipulated in the vehicle policy.
  7. Ensuring the motor vehicle handover forms are properly filled
  8. Assist the Administrator with registration of new vehicles and deregistration of disposed vehicles
  9. Collecting and delivering mail, supplies and other contingencies
  10. Performing simple mechanical servicing repairs to ICRAF Vehicles
  11. Advise the Administrator on appropriate mechanical services for vehicles and generator

Education, knowledge and experience

  • Possession of a clean driving license.
  • Ability to write and speak English
  • Minimum of 5 Years driving experience
  • Must be a holder of a Malawi School Leaving certificate.

Terms and conditions

  • This is a Locally Recruited position. CIFOR-ICRAF offers competitive remuneration in local currency commensurate with skills and experience.
  • The duty station will be in Lilongwe, Malawi CIFOR-ICRAF Offices.
