
Public Procurement & Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA)
The Public Procurement & Disposal of Assets Authority (PPDA) was established by an Act of Parliament to regulate the procurement and disposal of Public Assets in Malawi.
PPDA mission is to provide a professional, efficient, and effective regulatory, monitoring and oversight function on all public procurement and disposal matters. To accomplish its mission, PPDA is inviting applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the following vacant position.
Job Title: Public Relations and Communications Manager
Grade: PPDA 4
Location: PPDA Offices, Lilongwe
Purpose of the Job
Reporting to the Director of Corporate Services, the Public Relations and Communications Manager will be responsible for leading communications involving the Authority, including development and implementation of a communication strategy and a broad and diverse range of branding communications.
Key Responsibilities and Duties
Specifically, the Public Relation and Communications Manager will be required to perform the following duties and responsibilities.
- Develop and implement a communications strategy for the Authority that builds and maintains a positive corporate brand.
- Provide consistent and timely information to employees through various communication programs.
- Develop, implement, and adhere to communications Annual Workplans and Budget (AWB).
- Organizing and coordinating corporate events such as road civic education campaigns, donations etc.
- Act as the Authority’s spokesperson and respond to members of the media in a timely manner; composes and distributes press releases.
- Develop and maintain professional relationships with various members of the media
- Participate in the development and production of corporate publications including Annual Report of the Authority
- Conduct environmental scanning and Provide evidence-based opinion to Executive Management for appropriate action
- Maintain the Authority’s online and digital presence through website and social media engagements.
- Generate and document impact / success stories to share with stakeholders and audiences
- Any other duties assigned from time to time
Qualifications and Experience
- Applicants must have a Master’s Degree in Journalism, Public Relations, Communication or Marketing with a minimum of five (5) years’ practical experience in busy organization.

- Good writing, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills
- Innovative and creative
- Ability to research and analyze complex or diverse information
- Ability to design workflow and procedures and identify and solve problems in a timely manner
- Ability to gather and analyze information skillfully, develop alternative solutions
- An excellent team-player
- Strong organizational skills, versatility, ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
- Ability to multi-task and work with minimum supervision
