
Teachers Council of Malawi (TCM)
The Teachers Council of Malawi (TCM) is a parastatal organization mandated to regulate the teaching profession in Malawi. Established under the Education Act No. 21 of 2013, TCM is responsible for ensuring high standards of professionalism, accountability, and ethical conduct among teachers across all levels of the education system. The Council oversees teacher registration, professional development, and compliance with ethical and professional standards to enhance the quality of education in the country.
In pursuit of its mission, applications are invited from suitably qualified persons of Malawi origin to fill the following Executive Management vacant position tenable in the Teachers Council of Malawi (TCM) at Kanengo in Lilongwe:

Purpose of the Job
To provide strategic leadership, guidance and direction in the regulation of the education and practice of teachers and tutors and; enforcement of professional standards and ethics.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
Under the general direction of the Chief Executive Officer key, duties and responsibilities of the Director of Compliance Services shall include but not limited to, the following:
- Leading the development, review and implementation of policies, plans and programmes on ethics and professional standards, education and training and; investigation and enforcement services;
- Overseeing the regulation and supervision of the training and education of teachers and tutors through issuance of guidelines on curriculum development, vetting of syllabi and accreditation of training institutions and programs, in liaison with relevant stakeholders including NCHE;
- Monitoring and overseeing adherence by teaching practitioners with legal and regulatory requirements and relevant quality standards and procedures;
- Overseeing the investigation and management of cases, queries and complaints related to the professional conduct of teachers and tutors;
- Facilitating timely resolution of complaints and disputes;
- Coordinating stakeholder engagement and awareness on required professional ethics and standards, regulations and compliance matters in the teaching profession;
- Leading the development and review of professional standards and ethics for teaching practitioners.
Minimum Education Qualifications and Experience
- Master’s Degree in Education; Teacher Education or related field obtained subsequent to a University Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized and accredited Education Institution.
- Five (5) years postgraduate work experience in a senior management position in a field relevant to the functions and responsibility of the Council.
Appointments and Renumeration
Successful candidates shall be appointed on three (3) years performance-based contracts with an attractive salary and benefits commensurate with the seniority of the position and the qualifications of the candidate.
